The cluster focuses on promoting affordable and inclusive housing, resilient urban planning, heritage conservation, place-based regeneration, and climate-responsive development that balances economic growth, social well-being, and environmental stewardship. Through interdisciplinary research and strategic collaboration with government agencies, industry, communities, and international partners, the cluster supports national development agendas by generating policies, planning frameworks, and practical solutions that strengthen liveability, cultural identity, and the sustainable management of Malaysia's built environment.

Visitor Survey for Memorial Tun Abdul Razak (MTAR)
The reseach has been commisioned by Think City compiled the strategic direction derived from a comprehensive mixed-method study of the Memorial Tun Abdul Razak (MTAR), Kuala Lumpur, integrating visitor survey data from 401 respondents, qualitative interviews with benchmark heritage institutions, and a desktop review of comparable exhibition and recreational-based organisations. The study examines visitor profiles, behaviours, satisfaction levels, and institutional practices to inform strategies for strengthening MTAR’s role as a national memorial, educational, and tourism asset.

Kajian Potensi Pembangunan Kawasan Jejak Warisan (Heritage Trail) di Bandar Penggaram, Batu Pahat, Johor
Bandar Penggaram mempunyai sejarah dan warisan budaya yang unik dan bandar ini telah berkembang sebagai sebuah bandar pelabuhan dan kini menjadi bandar kedua terbesar di negeri Johor. Bandar Penggaram atau Bandar Batu Pahat mempunyai kira-kira 430 buah bangunan sebelum perang dengan reka bentuk fasad yang berciri gaya senibina (i) Electic, (ii) Gaya Awal Kolonial/Anglo India, dan (iii) Gaya Art Deco. Untuk memastikan Bandar Penggaram dikenali sebagai salah sebuah destinasi pelancongan yang mampu menjana pulangan ekonomi, satu pendekatan baharu perlu dijelmakan melalui program jejak warisan. Projek di bawah Program Impak Sosial Masyarakat (PRISM) Batu Pahat ini adalah di bawah penyelarasan bersama Pusat Hubungan Industri dan Masyarakat (ICRC) serta Pusat Pengurusan Penyelidikan (RMC) dengan dana penyelidikan yang diperuntukan oleh pihak universiti.

Formulation of Urban Regeneration Policy Framework in Malaysia
This research has been granted under the National Real Property Research Coordinator (NAPREC), Valuation and Property Services Department, Ministry of Finance Malaysia. This research has its roots when globally, cities has evolving towards its maturity stage, hence creating urban decline resulted into deprived economic, physical, social and environmental. Apart from the market driven that shaped up urban regeneration and development in the country or cities, most government and stakeholders is thinking on what is the best approach for sustainable urban regeneration or redevelopment process in Malaysia; and how to understand the real situation on what is urban regeneration. Two successful focus group discussions (FGD) among the subject matter expert (SME) uncovers the real `case for change’ scenarios and hence needs for urban regeneration policy.
